For many reasons, i'd find it extremely convenient to be able to activate/deactivate the laptop display at will.
I've surched around on the net for anything that could do it but, their arn't any solutions as I think only a blind/VI person could really gain from it.
On my old test machine I was able to use the command to switch it into sending output to a display that doesn't exist. But this one seemes to check if the display is actually hooked up or not. So, anyone got any other ideas?
Usually fn combined with arrow keys will turn up or down the brightness, so you can dim it out, but no you can't ever dismiss it completely. In fact, when using remote video, both monitors are showing, it's not either or.
Ah, that sucks. On the old dell, their were 3 options, 1 being main display, the seccond being display on both main and external and the third being on external. I don't know how they pulled this majic off but I wish it could be replicated. when i don't have a spasific need for the display I usually use the display at its dimmest, and turn it back up when I want to watch a video or some such.
Couple of ideas, I don't know if they'll work:
So, I've actually found a solution for this. I've found 2 others who have tried this after I stumbled upon it while trying to do something in qwitter.
1. hit controll+windows+p
2. scroll to projector only and hit enter.
3. accept the changes because your machine should prompt you that no moniter is detected.
4. after you've accepted this, you should be good to go.
